A creation born from an intense summer
This past August we dedicated our time fully to creating The Magic Flute in Catalan. We rehearsed it tirelessly. It is a new production by Opera Popular de Barcelona. The process was intense and creative. Our stage director, Jaume Villanueva, designed a version that blends imagination, clarity and emotion. His approach seeks a direct connection with every audience member.
The production is inspired by the Catalan translation by Joaquim Pena, a key figure in the country’s musical heritage. Pena helped bring opera closer to Catalan audiences and played an important role in cultural dissemination. Recovering his translation is our way of honouring his legacy.
Magic Flute Palau June: refined music and emerging talent
Thanks to maestro Albert Guinovart, we discovered a young musician who is advancing rapidly in the operatic world: Jofre Bardolet. He has created the musical arrangements for this production. He adapted the score for ten principal players from the Terrassa 48 Chamber Orchestra. The result is a clear, elegant and expressive sound.
The production also brings together the work of Valentina Raposo in puppetry. Enric Boxadera excels in costume design. Isa Moren leads in choreography. The entire Opera Popular de Barcelona vocal team contributes significantly. Each artistic element contributes to a cohesive and magical staging.
