Opera Barcelona: an extraordinary season finale

Published on

Barcelona is preparing for a very special June. Òpera Popular de Barcelona will close the season with four major cultural events.

This season finale will connect the Palau de la Música Catalana, Sants Teatre and Port Vell. Moreover, it will turn the city into a major opera stage.

After an intense season, the company arrives in June full of energy. At the same time, it continues presenting its own productions and attracting new audiences.

Opera Barcelona brings L’Elisir d’amore to the Palau

On June 13, the Palau de la Música Catalana will host L’Elisir d’amore. It is one of the company’s most beloved productions.

This production combines Donizetti’s opera with Catalan popular culture. Therefore, the performance includes the giants Roc and Laia.

The traditional big-head characters Tano, Beco and Llorenç will also appear. In addition, the cavallets and the Esbart Català de Dansaires will participate.

As a result, the Palau will become a great popular celebration. The experience is both unique and emotional.

Furthermore, the production will continue touring in 2027. Its first confirmed stop will be the Teatre Fortuny in Reus.

Opera Barcelona celebrates the success of The Magic Flute in Catalan

The Magic Flute in Catalan will also be one of June’s highlights. Throughout the season, the production has moved very different audiences.

First, it will arrive at Sants Teatre on June 24 during Saint John celebrations. Afterwards, it will return to the Palau de la Música Catalana on June 27.

The Palau performance is now almost sold out. Currently, only five stalls tickets remain available.

This strong success has confirmed the production’s return. Therefore, The Magic Flute will return to the Palau on December 7.

In addition, the production will continue touring throughout 2027.

Opera Barcelona will end the season by the sea

The grand finale will arrive with La traviata at Blaumarí Music Port Vell. Without doubt, it will become one of the summer’s most original cultural experiences.

The production will be staged on a spectacular floating platform. As a result, audiences will experience opera beside the Mediterranean Sea.

The sunset, the sea and Barcelona will create a unique atmosphere. Consequently, the production combines glamour, music and the city itself.

With this production, Òpera Popular de Barcelona continues exploring new formats. At the same time, it brings opera closer to new audiences.

Opera Barcelona returns in September with Carmen

After this intense June, the company will take a short summer break. However, the new season will begin very soon.

On September 12, Carmen will open the new season. In addition, Òpera Popular de Barcelona will continue touring.

Among other destinations, the company will return to Santiago de Compostela.

This June, Barcelona is not only hosting opera. Barcelona is living opera.
