Our interpretation

A woman turned into an object and a victim of a world that claims to love her.

The opera

Violetta Valéry meets Alfredo and briefly imagines a life beyond the rules that condemned her. But morality, money and appearances exact their price. Our staging confronts the cruelty hidden beneath the luxury.

Director’s notes

The refined perversity of Marcel Proust’s Paris hovers subtly over the drama.
